Happy New Year!

 And belated Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve we went from 50* and rain to midday the temps plummeting to below freezing and snow! And it didn't get above freezing for about 48hrs after that; the weather is crazy this winter!

So where do we stand now??

We got a driveway cut in before the snow came but as with everything we hit a hiccup. The quarry we were getting rock from had to close because some employees got COVID so we currently only have a little rock down. Good news is, it's enough that we can actually use the driveway to get out instead of trying to drive on wet, destroyed muddy land that we would soon have gotten stuck in. The ground that was cut has also never been touched so the ground was really, really, REALLY soft meaning it had to be dug out more than expected in one area. It's hard to describe, but it was almost like walking on an air mattress the way you can step (or drive) over an area and the ground floats up in another spot.

We also got the "permanent/temporary" pole (weird-ish long story, not so interesting) built and up. The state inspector (one of few restrictions) should be by today to inspect it. After that we can call the power company and they will establish power to the property. Goodbye relying only on a generator! And most of all, under that blue tarp we have..

The floor framing and one wall being built! And as I'm writing this Nate finished the wall so we called our amazing neighbor over and the three of us (without injury) got it lifted!
We also were suppose to get the well drilled today however before the guys came their hydraulic line broke (of course). So now it should happen tomorrow or Wednesday. But it's finally coming along! It's beyond exciting even though it's just a temporary place for us until we get going on the main house. It will certainly be a lot more comfortable for a few years than staying in the RV.

So that pretty much sums up what is going on. I just realized last post I mentioned having COVID. I'm fine by the way, thankfully. My symptoms lasted maybe half a week and because I had no symptoms by day 10 of testing positive I got to go back that day. Here's a few pictures to end with: 1) the snow as the sun was going down, no filter, it looked that dark and ominous! 2) the Christmas star is the lower one between the two taller trees just above the horizon light and 3) Another pretty dawn morning
