Game On...Except...

...Not so much. It's been a over a month since our septic permit got approved and as with everything construction related it moves at the speed of a sloth....

We are currently waiting for a driveway, power and Well to be put in and despite COVID, construction related businesses are booming therefore everyone's schedules are weeks out. At this point I believe (praying) that those three things will happen within the next two weeks now but I'm not going to hold my breath!

In the meantime, because construction on the tiny house has taken time to get up and running (longer than we hoped but am not surprised) we...drum roll please...

Got an RV! We already spent a solid 2 months + taking up space at Nates aunt and uncles and since we don't have the tiny house fully going we decided to move onto the property in this itty bitty beauty. 2 humans, 1 dog and 3 cats, that's right we're like a traveling circus! The biggest issue with getting to live in this humble abode is the weather. If you haven't noticed, it's Winter time and the last thing we want are the pipes to freeze on the nights it gets below 30* and we've certainly been having those. So at the risk of looking redneck Nate found a cheap alternative to a professional skirt that goes around the bottom of the RV. He found old Billboard Vinyl (billboard as in the advertisements you see on the highway) and made a skirt for it himself.

As I said, not the prettiest but hey it works and it's temporary. Because we don't have power or water we are currently hooked up to a generator which also allows Nate to actually work on the property as well. We have an amazing neighbor that Nate met early on moving out here who has a water source close to our property lines and is allowing us to fill up containers in order to fill the fresh water tank. Unfortunately it's too far to run multiple hoses straight from the source to the RV (plus the below 30* issue) but at least we don't have to drive the RV somewhere frequently to fill the water tank.

We moved into the RV on Friday which ended up being good timing since this coming Wednesday I will be 1 week into my 2 week "leave" off work since I tested positive for COVID. I felt head cold symptoms so they had me get tested and of course I ended up positive, stupid COVID.  Thankfully that has been the extent of my illness but I'm stuck waiting for the 2 full weeks until I'm allowed to go back.

On the property we did get a shed so Nate was able to move tools onto the site early on. He also did get the piers for the tiny house poured with the help of his cousin. Currently as I sit in the RV writing he is out there preparing the piers for wood so we are now making progress on the tiny house and the building of it should pick up quick.

                                                                     Holes for the piers
                                                                         Piers in place

That about sums up the last just over a months time since I last wrote. Not super exciting or tons of progress but when you have raw land it takes time for things to really get moving. In the meantime I'll leave you with this picture I took early morning Saturday after our first night in the RV.
